Take your sailing to the next level with expert tuition at our RYA Training Centre in Samos. Racing, rigging and top tips!

As with each of our Programmes, all of Richmond’s usual activities remain available to you during your holiday! This means that by booking the Sailing Programme, you can be assured you are simply adding to the fun and enjoyment of your holiday. The times of ministry, local walks, trips to beautiful harbourside towns, bike adventures and more are all still available to you!

What is the Sailing Programme?

Do you have some sailing experience but would like to improve? Perhaps you wish to learn to sail better or learn new sailing skills? If so, come and sail with us on the beautiful Mykali Bay!

With a variety of workshops available, this is the perfect week for those who love to have fun on the water and experience new things on holiday.

You are welcome to choose to attend any of an array of half-day workshops throughout the week according to your experience, with improver sessions in the mornings and more advanced sessions in the afternoons. For 2024, the programme will make more use of Richmond’s fleet of catamarans, which, being fast and fun to sail, are hugely popular.

What you can expect

A range of half-day workshops will run throughout the week and by pre-booking this programme, you can secure your space on five of those sessions across the week. Examples of the workshops include:

Day 1: “Better sailing” refresher
Day 2: Effective catamaran sailing
Day 3: Sailing with spinnakers
Day 4: Seamanship challenges
Day 5: Catamaran racing for fun!

The teaching style will be relaxed – it is your holiday, after all! The coaching will be led by a highly experienced RYA Senior Instructor who is able to cater for a range of abilities. So whether you are an Improver (i.e. you have RYA level 2 or can sail competently around a triangular course) or an aspiring club racer, there will be opportunities to challenge yourself and improve your sailing skills.

Your Programme Leader

Sheridan has been involved with Richmond since 2015 and has been leading the Sailing Week since its inception two years ago; he also leads the training programme for Richmond’s aspiring Dinghy Instructors. He is an RYA Advanced and Multihull Instructor and will be delighted to welcome regular and new guests to Samos for this superb week taking in a variety of sailing skills.

I really love sailing and being on the water. My hope is that I can teach and encourage others to get as much pleasure and sense of achievement as I do from harnessing the wind and tide to best effect. And what better place to learn and improve one’s sailing skills than the beautiful warm waters of the Aegean?
