The great bits: The people - the team from Richmond were lovely, super friendly, kind, great with the kids, youth and adults. The optional worship, early morning Bible reflections were uplifting. There was such a great positive atmosphere throughout our two week stay.
The sailing and windsurfing are great with a gentle wind building throughout the day meaning naturally the conditions suited beginners in the morning and advanced in the afternoon. The sailing kit of 1 aero, 2 lasers, 5 zests, 3cats, 2 quests and loads of different windsurf kit was great.
The sailing area and approach was supportive yet relaxed, safe yet enabling you to push and learn how to handle stress by gusts.
Cycling is good with mountain bike, eMTB and hybrid bikes. The e-bikes in particular were powerful, popular options. Great routes and well guided.
The pool had aqua aerobics, waterpolo, and was fun to cool down in.
Everything from a Richmond point of view was superb but the underlying hotel was average, over priced and expensive for what we paid.
The bits to Improve- The food is not why you come, breakfast is average to poor coffee, syrup based fruit juice, rather than fresh juice which could easily be done. The hot breakfast was an odd mix of sausage, tomatoes and then some sort of egg/chips mix. Could do with boiled and fried eggs each day, and not the rehashed chips from the night before.. a bean to cup coffee option would make a big difference.
That said the Greek yogurt, fresh fruit and muesli was a saving grace and much enjoyed.
The lunch options are good but cheaper options exist. Typical cost was €100 for four people for lunch including drinks - so we mostly ate elsewhere!
Dinner was okay to good with a good salad and hot selection, and reasonable variety over the week.However having to constantly ask for extra water, was frustrating and felt the staff were actively trying to avoid giving water.
Beds and bedrooms were clean, comfortable air con worked well, and we slept very well.
The bar is over priced with water costing 2eur vs 0.35eur in the AB supermarket (10min by bike) or 1eur in other bars on the island. All other drinks were similarly expensive vs nearby options.
So all in all we had an amazing holiday, made by the wonderful people and staff from Richmond which deserve a 5+ out of 5 star review but the hotel is average and has high charges so go to local supermarkets when staying there.
