Nigel was Inducted as Minister of Canford Heath Baptist Church in November 2014. Nigel’s Christian journey began over 40 years ago at a Don Summers rally in Reading, where he made a commitment that night, and was baptised soon afterwards.

He met Val in 1980, and moved to Bournemouth soon afterwards. They both became very involved in the life of Lansdowne Baptist Church where Nigel led the music and outreach ministry for many years. It was during this time that God clarified to Nigel his call, and in 1992 he started training for ministry at Spurgeon’s College in London while working as a Music Director for a lively Anglican church in West Croydon.

Pastorates in Stafford, Cirencester and Sudbury (Suffolk) followed, before a joyful return to Dorset and the ministry at Canford Heath. Although Nigel enjoys leading worship from the keyboard, he is a pastor/teacher at heart and knows that is the primary ministry to which God has called him.

Val was appointed as Associate Minister at Canford Heath in 2015, and has responsibility for outreach ministry including chaplaincies at the local Asda and secondary school. Val also preaches regularly”. Since the coronavirus outbreak, Nigel and Val have been recording online “thoughts for the day” which can be viewed on the church Facebook page

Theme for 27 May to 17 June 2021 in Samos

“We plan to focus on the theme of prayer in 2021. All the evidence is that more people than ever before have turned to prayer over the past months.  We don’t plan to repeat any material, which may be of interest to any guests who book in for three weeks.   The three weeks will follow the following themes:

How do I pray?

Jesus taught us how to pray and

What happens when we pray?

The bible studies will look more deeply at themes under the overall theme Why should we pray?”
