Derek is married to Carrie, and they celebrated their Ruby Wedding Anniversary last year! They have three children, Ben, Lottie and Josh, and are thrilled to now have three gorgeous grandchildren! 

Derek grew up in the North East of England and became a Christian as a teenager. After training at Moorlands and Surgeon’s College, Derek worked in youth work in Edinburgh and Bournemouth, as well as itinerant work with the Saltmine Trust. He was the Senior Minister at Ruislip Baptist Church from 1985 until he retired in October 2023. Carrie worked as an infant school teacher, which she loved, and was also involved with the children as well as worship with Ruislip Baptist. 

Derek and Carrie have now moved to Lymington and are so thankful for the opportunities to continue to serve God as well as the time to explore the beautiful countryside and coastline in the area! Derek’s hobbies include music, walking, cooking and the ups and downs of following Newcastle United FC. Whereas Carrie enjoys music, walking and eating the delicious food that Derek cooks!
