To keep up to date with our policies and practices at this time, please read on for your Coronavirus update. The Richmond team has been working hard to ensure that your holiday will be as safe as possible. We have been planning and adapting our protocols and operating procedures in line with UK and local government guidance and in light of the best practice measures adopted by the hospitality sector. Holidays will, of course, be a little different during 2021 as we do our very best to keep you, our guests safe in these unprecedented circumstances.

Summer 2021

We have been working hard here at Richmond Holidays to ensure that your summer holiday to the Zefiros Beach Hotel in Samos will be both safe and fun!

The core elements of relaxation in the sun, adventure, fun on boats and bikes, Christian fellowship and heartfelt hospitality will be the same and there will, of course, be some changes to ensure your safety and to minimise risk.

We will continue to follow both UK and local guidance, and will be monitoring the situation as it unfolds, taking into account the vaccination programme progress and any other factors.

Richmond Holidays provides 100% financial protection on all holiday bookings.

All funds that you pay to Richmond are securely held in trust with the Travel Trust Association until you return from your holiday. We do not access these funds in advance for any reason, meaning you can have confidence that your funds are available to be returned to you anytime, if you are entitled to a refund.

If Richmond cancel your holiday, we will contact you by email to notify you and to offer you a 100% refund of the funds you have paid for your holiday, or a deferment to a later holiday for no admin fee.

You will have booked your flight independently, so if you receive notification from your airline that your flight has been cancelled, please follow their instruction as to how to receive a flight refund from the airline or defer your flight booking to a later date.

In the event that your flight is cancelled, we at Richmond Holidays have added an extra level of protection to your accommodation reservation. For our Summer 2021 season, if your flight is cancelled by the airline, we will give you the option to defer your Richmond holiday for no admin fee, or cancel for a 100% refund. Please contact the Richmond office with proof of flight booking and cancellation and we will be happy to help.

Yes, it is essential and a condition of booking that you have travel insurance in place. We suggest a policy that covers for cancellations in the event of illness and unforeseeable events as well as for travel disruption in case your flight is rescheduled.

If Richmond has to cancel your 2021 holiday at any point, or if your flight is cancelled by the airline before your departure, you can choose to defer your summer holiday to a later date, with no admin fee charged.

We have additional, more flexible terms if Samos is placed on the amber or red list by the UK government, please see below.

If, for a reason not listed above, you contact us to request a deferment with more than 10 weeks before your departure date, we may be able to facilitate your request for just a £50pp admin fee, subject to availability.

Outside of these conditions, choosing to change your dates is considered a cancellation and so would be subject to our usual cancellation terms (as outlined here). The new dates would be treated as a new booking.

Richmond is intending to run holidays to Samos whether the country is in the green or amber zone at the time of your holiday. The only impact of an amber categorisation would be the requirement to self-isolate at home upon return and, as such, your holiday in Samos would be unaffected.

However, we are aware that some people will not be able to self-isolate upon return to the UK, and therefore, we have introduced some additional flexibility to your booking.

If – within 28 days of your departure – we know that travelling to Samos will require you to officially self-isolate upon your return to the UK, you will have the option to defer your holiday within 2021* for no fee, subject to availability.

*If your holiday is currently scheduled to depart on or after 29 July 2021, you will also have the option to defer to a Samos 2022 departure date within these terms.

Please note, if Greece is on the amber list in the 28 days before departure and you decide to cancel your holiday rather than defer, this will be subject to our usual policies. Further, if you would like to defer your holiday despite the departure date being more than 28 days away, this will be subject to our usual fees.

It is extremely unlikely that Greece will be on the red list this summer, due to the fantastic vaccination programme and low infection rates.

If Greece is on the red list at the time of your holiday, we will contact you to inform you that your holiday has been cancelled. You can then request a full refund, or a fee-free deferment – whichever is best for you.

Please be assured that we will contact you if your holiday is cancelled, so you don’t need to worry if you have not heard from us. We will aim to give you at least two weeks’ notice.

TUI have also stated that they will cancel their flights if the destination is on the red list, so you can be confident that you will not lose out. Please click here for details.

If you decide to cancel your Summer holiday for a reason other than your flight being cancelled by the airline, this will be subject to our usual cancellation terms as outlined here. Therefore, it is essential that you purchase good travel insurance that will provide a payout if you cancel your holiday due to unforeseen circumstances such as ill health.

As stated by the Greek government, no self-isolation period will be required upon arrival for those who provide proof of either vaccination or a negative test result before travelling.
