Steve studied music after leaving school, which led to studio management and production for BBC Network Radio, Central London – putting together music and arts programmes for Radio One, Radio Four and the BBC World Service.
In 1988 he became a Christian, married Penny and realised that full-time composing was going to be his job! Radio and TV were the obvious places to start as a composer, and this quickly developed into music for film, theatre and audio-visual soundtracks.
Steve was ordained in the Church of England in 2008, serving in churches in Bath and Bristol, dividing his time equally between music and ministry. More recently he’s been composing the Psalms Project for commercial release and live performance, along with writing scripture-based songs with his son, Clem.
Penny is a painter and has combined painting with church pastoral work and teaching English as a foreign language, while also communicating her Christian faith through her painting.
They have three children – James, Imogen and Clem – and five (soon to be six!) grandkids. They currently worship at Redeemer Church, Winchester, where Steve has been preaching and leading various small groups with Penny. Redeemer Winchester
