“"Absolutely amazing in every single possible way - I can't even begin to list all of the things that have made this holiday so spectacular. I'll tell all of my friends, and I'll be back. Thank you thank you"”

Paradise Park Hotel, Los Cristianos

The Paradise Park Hotel in Los Cristianos combines all that we are looking for:  a really great family owned 4 star hotel, excellent food, quiet adult areas, a strong emphasis on customer service, and a short walk (or free half hourly hotel return shuttle) to the beach.  The hotel has wonderful spa facilities, every bedroom was completely refurbished Summer 2010, the hotel is only 15 minutes from the airport and our Richmond host couple will be there to greet you and ensure that you not only make the very most of your holiday but also are able to relax fully.  Times of praising God together and hearing from God's Word are daily parts of this holiday.

Host Ministry Couple - 9-23 November and December 21-January 11 and 29 February - 14 March 2012

We are delighted that Bob and Stella Matthews will return once again to be our host ministry couple on all the above dates having already been in Tenerife with Richmond in December/January last year and in March/April this year

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR

Richmond is delighted to be offering our second (non-skiing) Christmas & New Year holiday for our guests. Plase note there is a £105 compulsory supplement for the New Year's Eve Gala Evening including a very special dinner, drinks, fireworks and dancing.  Here is a testimonial from a Richmond guest last Christmas and New Year:

"I got back yesterday evening to a cold England after one of the best Christian holidays I've ever had.  There were no problems with the Paradise Park Hotel and the food was excellent with a wide range of choice every evening.  What I most appreciated was the Christian fellowship and especially the leadership of Bob and Stella Matthews.  God was definitely at work and He ministered to me through them in a special way.  I've never been away over Christmas and the New Year before, so it was a real blessing to be somewhere as warm and beautiful as Tenerife .  I made three sightseeing trips and thought the natural scenery was superb.  All in all I feel I have been blessed far more than I deserve and I want to thank you and all the staff at Richmond for making this holiday possible."  David Arkell, Tenerife January 2011

Guest Testimonials:

Just a brief note to say 'Thank you' for providing us with another great holiday, this time to Tenerife.

The location, transfer from airport (only 15 minutes by taxi), hotel and food were all very good. We can see too how this sort of format works extremely well for wintersun holidays - i.e. arrive any day, differing lengths of stay with a couple acting as hosts or Ministry leaders etc whereby you were welcomed, given practical advice about hotel, excursions, local facilities, local Church in which to attend/worship on Sunday, evening entertainment, someone with whom to pray or share/talk through any personal issues along with times of Prayer, Worship and teaching from God's Word. All of which, Bob & Stella Matthews excelled in doing extremely well.

Suffice to say we have returned from Tenerife suitably refreshed both physically, mentally but more importantly Spiritually speaking too having had a great holiday for which we are grateful to Richmond Holidays for providing and facilitating such an excellent time away. Certainly we wish to go away and enjoy God's creation and share fellowship with other members of His family staying in good accommodation and enjoying good meals as well.

Here is Bob and Stella Matthews' profile:

Born and brought up in rural West Cumberland (in the shadow of Ennerdale), I grew up with walking mountains as an instinct. I was fortunate to be able to work initially at a College in Whitehaven before making a career switch to work for the Lake District National Park. As Operations Manager based beside Windermere, I had an unrivalled view from my office window across the head of the Lake to the Central Fells. I was embroiled in the field of interpretive education. I even became an aficionado of Beatrix Potter, whose cousin built the house that was my base. I was granted voluntary redundancy/early retirement in 1997 after 23 years.

We Pastored the Assemblies of God Church in Kendal for eight years until moving, in 1986, to our present home in Backbarrow, near Newby Bridge, at the southern end of Windermere.  1997 on, Stella + I felt called to mission in West Africa - mostly Ghana but spent time in The Gambia;  Bible College lecturing; preaching and teaching in many churches; humanitarian projects especially taking containers of medical equipment to Ghana + The Gambia;  Built a school - Zoë European Academy - in rural outskirts of Accra; ten years on and 350 children on the roll, we still support the project.  Holiday ministry includes more than 40 overseas trips with groups to Israel; Greece and several Islands; Turkey; Cyprus; Malta; Madeira; Tuscany; The Alps(French, German, Austrian and Italian), plus Provence - and, of course - The English Lake District.

Two sons live in nearby Ulverston (birthplace of Stan Laurel, as in Laurel + Hardy!); one is a banker whilst the younger pastors Emmanuel Christian Centre, our home church. We have six grandchildren.

I am archivist for the local History Society and we enjoy travelling the UK in our motorhome, which we find particularly useful for fulfilling distant/travelling speaking engagements. As well as preaching, Bob has an armoury of illustrated talks on Lake District, literary and conservation topics and acts as Guide for touring/walking groups. Lecturing fees etc go towards supporting our missions.

Wesley's great revelation hymns have long been particularly special, as have Fanny Crosby's heartfelt renditions. A favourite song, though, of recent years is "Faithful One, so unchanging...". The Lord has been so open-handed towards me and my family - great grandparents and on down succeeding generations.  However, Stuart Townend's "In Christ Alone" and How deep The Father's Love..." stir me to the core. I was especially moved by that last one from Oberammergau, visited three times in 2000.

When we were called to West Africa, we received a prophetic word from NIV Isaiah 58 vv 6-12. Especially, v.11 - "The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame." He has fulfilled that promise incredibly and absolutely...

We thank God for all of His Provision to us.
