“We had a wonderful two weeks. The staff are exemplary and a real credit to you and Richmond. I pray that the season will continue to go well.”
Doug Croucher, August 2011, Samos
“Have recently returned from one of the best Christmases ever! We were blessed by wonderful fellowship with Bob & Stella, we all gelled as a group, wonderful hospitality at the Paradise Park Hotel, was provided with the best gluten free bread & goodies I've ever had, on a wonderful island with a wonderful climate!
Thank you for arranging this time of blessing; as either Kate or Jennifer stated, 'we didn't want to leave'.
The wonderful fellowship was the main reason for my choosing to travel with Richmond.
All good wishes”
Mrs Josephine Hatcliffe, Tenerife, Christmas 2011
“... we wanted you to know that we had a super holiday out there. The team you have out there ‘did us proud’ and clearly they are a team! We felt extremely welcome and well looked after from the moment we got there and everyone worked hard to make sure we had a great time.
Christmas day was also a highlight and we had a memorable day, from beginning to end, including some fantastic skiing all day. The prospect of future Christmases in England no longer seems very appealing!
We do hope Richmond goes from strength to strength in 2012 and thank you again for providing us with a very special holiday.”
Jonathan & Julia Seckington, Reberty, Christmas 2011
“Thanks to the whole team at Sainte-Foy for a wonderful New Year's week.
They managed to make it feel like being at home with a group of friends while maintaining the highest standards of care that I've had on a holiday.
”
Natalie Worsfold and family, Ste Foy, New Year 2011/12
“Lovely, homely atmosphere to return to after a day in the mountains. Your staff are a great credit to the company. Tom says that though he usually doesn’t like ‘organised fun’ the evening activities were brilliant. It was great being hosted rather than staffed; e.g. eating with the team, activities together. Such a relaxed time and though exhausting skiing we feel our batteries are thoroughly recharged. We absolutely loved our stay and will be sad to leave!”
Tom and Cat Auden, Alpe d’Huez, December 2011
“I wanted to let you how much I enjoyed the holiday. It has been a few years since I have been on such a holiday - the last time was now some years ago in Kos.
The hotel was excellent with a plentiful supply of superb food. Rob, Katy, Stan and the waterfront team were all very friendly, helpful, approachable and professional helping to make for a wonderful week's holiday.
Unfortunately we were delayed on our return for 24hrs due to the Greek industrial action but Katy could not have been more attentive, helpful and caring during what must have been a very stressful 24 hours. When we finally got back to the hotel for an extra night before the flight home the next day, the staff were there to take in our bags, the local hotel staff manning the reception and some warm food was also available - all this at 00:45 in the morning. It was very humbling to be taken such good care off. They all really did go the extra mile and beyond to ensure we were well looked after. This was so very much appreciated.
Please pass on my good wishes and thanks to everyone.
David Vail

David Vail, Samos, September 2011
“I think this holiday pretty much had it all and I enjoyed the company of the other guests. It was a real treat. All the hotel staff played a big part in making the holiday a success. They were all courteous, willing and very helpful. The fact that I was on my own made no difference; I was made so welcome.
”
Robin Bates, Tenerife, April 2011
“Best holiday I have had as a lone traveller. Definitely be booking up again”
Lisa Eaton, Croatia, September 2011
“I particularly enjoyed the friendliness of staff and guests, spiritual refreshment, most refreshing was the effect of skiing which required such intense concentration (new skier) followed by wonderful apres-ski!”
Muriel Vincent, January 2012, Ste Foy
“Here I am on the veranda of our delightful chalet, with reeds and trees rustling in the breeze and frogs croaking thinking this is the most idyllic hotel I have ever encountered. I've been to a fair number of Mediterranean resorts and this is my number one - well done for finding it and striking the deal! I love the pleasure of so much personal space. The grounds are extensive, and the chalet accommodation is such a change from concrete boxes. The food is of a very high standard indeed, and we have been unanimous in this. The evening meals are exceptional in their quality and variety. Of course the Richmond Team are a delightful group and so good at their work.”
Matthew Grayshon, Bodrum, June 2011
“I have just returned from a wonderful week in Austria. I returned feeling the benefit in body, soul and mind. Your team out there are a real credit to you. Nothing was too much for them. It was a great start to retirement. The programme was well organised, the food was wonderful, scenery magnificent, very comfortable chalet, well organised programme including trips. I did not get involved with Fit Fish but I appreciated the fellowship with Gaynor and Peter. They showed great enthusiasm for their work.
Thank you for the upgrade of room. I could lie in bed and see the mountains.
Thank you for giving me such a great start to retirement. I trust the season goes well. I look forward to Samos in September with you. Richmond offer a wonderful service which I am truly grateful for.”
Ann Grant, Austria, June 2011
“This was my first Richmond experience and I was impressed! From the very start it was easy... booking was simple and help/info from the office staff was great. From the moment we arrived the smiling team couldnt have been more helpful....and those suitcases were heavy going up 3 flights! The food was gorgeous - very different from catered chalets Ive experienced before.”
Susan Macafee, Alpe d'Huez, March 2012
“We returned on Saturday from a wonderful week in Reberty. Your team worked so hard to make our stay relaxing and rewarding. Every element of the trip worked smoothly, from the airport transfer, ski pass collection, and equipment hire, right through to the last day of skiing. The ski guiding helped us to get around the massive 3 Valleys area with confidence, and explore places which we may not have got to on our own, without ever needing to look at the piste map. The outdoor hot tub was a great place to soothe aching legs! And the ministry time was thought-provoking, providing a quiet time for reflection after the day’s activities. So altogether, a wonderful week of skiing, fellowship and fun.”
Catherine Matthews, Reberty, March 2012
“Just a quick note to say how much we all enjoyed it there. The Chalet and location are great - right on the piste and in such an amazing series of valleys! Although the rooms are tight for space this is a small negative with all the positives... And to have the hot tub, sauna, good food and a great team of staff it completes the package well.
Well done
”
Nick Parkin, Reberty, March 2011
“The Ministry - well, Trish and Alex; they showed real interest and concern for us throughout the holiday. At the ministry sessions their leading was a wonderful encouragement.”
David Harrison, Cyprus, October 2011
“As this was my first holiday travelling alone, I particularly enjoyed the fellowship of other believers.”
Mary Smith, Cyprus, October 2011
“To add to the things that you can control, God blessed us with late snow and the delight of wonderful skiing, which has wetted our appetite for more. The whole group seemed to gel very quickly and a real sense of family was evident. Richmond you really do provide a quality, God given, fun filled, caring holiday, in which all are able to ski, relax but also feel the presence of Jesus. Thank you again, we hope to return soon.
”
Stephen Chidlow & Family , Alpe d’Huez, April 2012
“So much to mention! Of the best being the staff who were the best I have experienced. The facilities such as hot tub etc. were fantastic. The games night and the bar were also great… Fantastic holiday, thank you so much!”
Russell, Alpe d’Huez, January 2012
“Lovely fellowship with other Christians, good ministry and felt generally spoilt and looked after :)”
Lisa Eaton, Croatia, September 2011
“Firstly we would like to let you know how much we enjoyed our week - the chalet was super, food great, company excellent, staff brilliant - all in all probably goes down as our best family ski trip so far!
We are already looking forward to our next ski holiday with Richmond.”
Rebecca Neal, Feb half term 2011
“Thank you so much for a lovely holiday in Tenerife.
The hotel, food, and staff were very good. We really enjoyed the Christian fellowship.
Most of all we enjoyed the ministry and loving care of Bob and Stella Matthews.
It was the best Christian Holiday that we have ever had!
We would gladly recommend Richmond Holidays to anyone.
Yours in Christ
”
Brian & Anne Reid, Tenerife, April 2011
“From the moment we arrived I felt a tangible sense of peace and prayer
I am sure there is masses of prayer going on behind the scenes because all the team were absolutely incredible in their warmth and willingness to serve us, all done with great cheerfulness and openness.
Lying on a sunbed next to the clear turquoise water and talking with other guests about the stuff that really matters in our lives is the best possible combination on a holiday! Even the little children were writing encouraging bible verses on pebbles and handing them out to us all - they are on our hall table and a lovely reminder. It felt like church as it really could be.”
Jacqui and Graham Gardner, Samos, August 2011
“Just to say a group of us (11!) met up for a reunion weekend 11.11.11!
We had met in Croatia May 2010.
We had really, really enjoyed each other's company during the holiday ....and this random group did again... this November ... not just a holiday thing!
Seems we all want meet again next year too.
Thought you might like to know ... great friendships started and all that!”
Marion Hedley, Croatia 2010 and UK reunion 2011
“We have just got back from our week in Samos and I would like to say how specially blessed I felt by all the love and care lavished on us by the Richmond staff. They were all so cheerful and willing to meet the needs of the moment that it surely was a taste of heaven.”
Naomi King, Samos, May 2011
“The whole holiday was outstanding, I have come back completely refreshed and renewed and that wouldn’t have happened without you all, thank you so much! I just wanted to let you know how much you are blessing others with your work, you must have been so tired after looking after us for the week yet I saw how welcoming you were as the next guests arrived, you all are amazing!”
Sarah Whittaker, Alpe d'Huez, February 2012
“We recently returned from a wonderful fortnight at the Hotel Jadran!
Croatia is a fascinating, beautiful country with sparkling, clear sea, lots of sunshine, many islands and lots to see and do. The hotel is lovely, and we had great ministry and fellowship, too.
Your staff, Danny and Christy, were fantastic, too!
What more could one want?
”
Roger & Carol Salter, Croatia, July 2011
“I felt safe, loved and blessed. It was a lovely hotel. We had a table reserved for meals so were able to have fellowship together and Bob and Stella (our ministry leaders) looked after us lovingly and prayerfully.”
Janet Sinclair, Tenerife, November 2011
“Ste Foy was a recommendation by a friend. She said she thought we’d like it. As experienced skiers we took the recommendation on trust as there were only four lifts in resort, but our surprise is we still have so much to explore and handed our skis back in reluctantly. We cannot wait to return and ski again and bring friends to enjoy this magical place.”
Helen Hallett, Ste Foy, Jan 2012
“Just a note to say that I once again had a wonderful Richmond holiday, this year in Turkey. The holiday seems such a long time ago now but the happy memories will remain with me for along time to come. It was also such a joy to be able to join in it seems all the activities on offer. I had a fabulous time in the new resort situated on the Bodrum Peninsula in Turkey. It is in a beautiful location, set in its own spectacular bay , and surrounded by steep mountains, and with crystal clear water and a continuous clear blue sky it makes for a truly lovely setting
”
Graham Pumfrett, Turkey, June 2011
“I just want to say a BIG "Thank You" for the great holiday that I have just had in Austria.
Everything was so good, and I love meeting all the staff, and the different guests.
The holiday staff were fantastic, and worked so hard to anticipate and meet the guests needs. I enjoyed meeting them and having long chats with them. And Michael and Jennifer, the Christian Leaders were also great.... we had lots of good solid teaching and opportunities to share faith and worship.
All in all - I have had a fabulous holiday.... and it will be one I shall remember for a long while.
So a BIG "thank you" to all.
”
Rosie Foulkes, Austria, 2011
“This is our third consecutive year with Richmond and we really appreciated the family atmosphere at Ste Foy. The staff were so helpful and genuinely friendly and we particularly enjoyed the ministry. It is hard to improve on perfection!”
Ian & Hazel McCullogh, Ste Foy, January 2012
“I loved Reberty as a ski resort, the chalet was great (especially as I had the room which had a jacuzzi bath!), the staff were exceptional and I can't wait to go again next year.”
Vanessa Cave, Reberty, March 2011
“Just to say a big Thanks for a fab holiday in Aspat!
All the waterfront team were great and I managed to get some cool windsurfing in as well as meeting lots of great folk.
All the staff were FAB ! and in the words of Adam Playfair (great resort Manager)
...
FANTASTIC !
Anyway, I look forward to the next hols with Richmond.
Huge blessings to all staff that worked so hard to make it a great time.
”
Bill Roseblade, Aspat, Bodrum, 2011
“We just wanted to thank all the Richmond staff for our best holiday ever!
Wow, what a wonderful time we have had. We have never been with Richmond before, but will certainly book again. It was fantastic.
Sainte Foy was an amazing resort, helped by that huge dumping of snow! The off piste was thoroughly enjoyed by our teenage children. The Chalet was really cosy and comfortable and had a real relaxed feel to it.
But best of all were all the lovely people we met!
From the moment we arrived, the staff were so warm and welcoming. Actually it seems really odd now to call them "staff" as we left as friends!
”
The Wright Family, Ste Foy, Christmas 2011
“We returned last Thursday from a fantastic holiday. The Richmond team in Samos is really superb - the children's and teens' workers, the waterfront team, Rob & Katy - they were all fantastic and helped to make it the super holiday it was, and Ian and Cindy were inspiring and a blessing too. So thank you! I am sure we will holiday again with Richmond.
”
Sue Paton & family, Samos, August 2011
“Sorry, if it is beginning to get boring, but I have to write again to say what an excellent holiday I had, this time in Austria.
I am reminded of that famous Baptist missionary William Carey who went to India and it was 7 years before he witnessed his first convert. I have also been toiling away (for longer if you include Mastersun) to get my first convert which finally came this year when my friends from church decided to convert to a Richmond holiday!!
I persuaded them to write an item for our church mag. The comments in the article do sum up the feeling and appreciation felt for the staff. They were lovely, and worked so hard.
There will be no more Richmond holidays this year for me, but look forward, God willing to more of the same next year.
Every blessing”
Graham Pumfrett, Austria, 2011
“Just dropping a line to say how much we enjoyed the holiday. We have previously been to Samos on two occasions and did not initially think that we would get a holiday abroad this year. Thus, at the last minute, when it did become possible, Samos and Bodrum were, of course full! As the children have had such a good time before with the sailing etc, we weren't sure whether it would go down as well in Croatia, but they had a great time, and much thanks and praise to Emma and Josh for making our children's stay so enjoyable!
This also meant that Sam and I were able to enjoy some well deserved rest! (with no sailing to distract the serious business of sitting by the pool sunning ourselves and reading!)
Many thanks again for the holiday.
God Bless”
Steve & Sam Giles, Croatia 2011
“A fantastic week's break in superb weather in a top hotel with so much included in the price; including thought provoking ministry and lots of facilities and fun entertainment. The buffet breakfast and dinner were sumptious, offering an amazing choice. The room was spacious and comfortable - it was good to have a fridge! Thank you Richmond for a great holiday!”
Robin & Brenda Baker, Tenerife, November 2011
“Barbara and I have returned from the enjoyment of another rich Richmond experience in Reberty. Everything from booking at the beginning to the end efficiently organised and managed. Please pass our thanks to Danny and his team.”
Ian Brannam, Reberty, March 2012
“The staff, both at Richmond Office and in Resort really cared we had a good time.”
S & J Pratt, Alpe d’Huez, February 2012
“Thank u 4 such a wonderful holiday at the Paradise Park Hotel with Bob & Stella Matthews.
All our expectations were exceeded. My Mum & I had a fantastic time. We felt we were 'home from home'! Their welcome got the holiday off to a wonderful start. We could not have been in better hands. We certainly
were blessed & refreshed physically & spiritually! Thank you once again for making this holiday happen.
May God bless Richmond Holidays, thank you.”
Karen Cheetham & Katherine Taylor, Tenerife, April 2011
“An amazingly refreshing time, a break from life to refocus on REAL life!”
Anne Kerr, Alpe d'Huez, January 2012
“... it was beyond incredible! The hotel, the food, the windsurf, the sun, the sea and beach were wonderful. Even more so, I found the ministry so inspiring and helpful and have found myself with a desire to learn more about ministry in this area (holidays/sports).”
Jessica Griffiths, Samos 2011
“We really enjoyed all the staff, they were fun and extremely warm - where do you find them. We were always provided for positively and with a smile.”
Stephen Chidlow & family , Alpe d’Huez, April 2012
“Just needed to drop a line to say what an amazingly fabulous holiday we all had in Samos - thank you! It ticked every box for a family holiday with teenagers - something to keep everyone very happy for the whole week. The Samos team are an incredibly motivated and servant hearted bunch who inspired us all. It was exciting to see God at work in so many ways, in the kids lives but also the 'God moments' that opened up to share with other non Richmond guests staying at the hotel. Thanks also to the lovely Greek staff who served delicious food and even turned Josh's freshly caught mullet into a divine experience!
The holiday is still a hot topic at the meal table one week on - memories are made of this!
”
Phil & Pauline Webborn, Samos, July 2011
“We settled and relaxed very quickly. The rooms were clean and tidy. We felt at home and as if nothing was too much trouble.”
Stephen Chidlow & Family, Alpe d'Huez, April 2012
“A most unexpectedly uber blessed, peaceful, enjoyable, fulfilling, challenging, renewing week! The waterfront staffwere great; really helpful and encouraging; made sailing a pleasure. All the team were suberb, a credit to the Lord and Richmond.”
Jeremy and Elaine Creswell, Samos, May 2011
“Our tour leader David Gordon-Watkins was superb. He led in a truly wonderful way, being very caring and sensitive, and so knowledgeable and well prepared. He is truly and inspiration to me! Everything from the itinerary to the accomodation was brilliant. The holiday was everything I hoped for and more. Thank you so much Richmond!”
Leo Deacon, Israel Tour
“It was my second Richmond holiday, I went to Meribel last year and didn’t think I could ever find a holiday that matched how good that one was but I have been proved wrong. First of all thank you to all those who made booking the holiday easy and pleasant, it makes such a difference to know when you ring up a holiday company that the person at the end of the phone is going to be really helpful and friendly.”
Sarah Whittaker, Alpe d'Huez, February 2012
“"Absolutely amazing in every single possible way - I can't even begin to list all of the things that have made this holiday so spectacular. I'll tell all of my friends, and I'll be back. Thank you thank you"”
Reberty Village, 30s & 40s, March 2011
“Many thanks to you for getting our group out to Reberty; we had a great time. Danny sets a great atmosphere and the whole team were terrific. The kids were particularly appreciative of Ross and Anna Grace's work with them during the ministry time. As well as being thankful, an outcome of a good holiday is that many of the gang are keen to do it again next year!”
Matt Fuller Group, Reberty, April 2012
“If you want to see how a Ski chalet should be run then spend a week at Chalet des Neiges at Reberty!
I was impressed with the atmosphere right from the moment we arrived, due in no small part to Hermione and the calm, confident way she managed the team. Always visible and approachable, she was never afraid to get stuck in and help whilst the team went about their business without any fuss. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they made everything appear effortless.
The guiding was first class, whilst the food was excellent.
The chalet with skiing straight to the hot tub was an added bonus, as was the unbroken sunshine.
You are onto a winner here Richmond. Keep up the excellent work! We will definitely be booking Reberty next year, I just need to diet a bit after all the cake!”
Graham and Linda Houston, Reberty, March 2011
“I am writing to tell you about the lovely holiday in Austria.
Everyone went out of their way to ensure that all my needs were met.
This was my first holiday with Richmond and it certainly won't be my last.
”
Isobel Kelly, Austria, Sept 2011
“I have had a fantastic week at Chalet Enstall in Haus. The scenery was magnificent and I will have the images of the amazing beauty of the lakes and mountains forever etched in my mind. What a wonderful place to enjoy God's creation.
I wanted to say a very special thank you to Hannah, Anna, AJ and Jan-Marie for the magnificent job they did, they worked so hard all week to make the holiday special. They worked tirelessly and always had a smile and took time
to chat even when they were busy, the outings and activities were superb and the meals were fantastic, beautifully cooked and presented. God has blessed each one of you with very special giftings and you have shared those
giftings and blessed so many people, through doing so. I would also like to thank Mike and Jenny for their ministry we had wonderful times of fellowship and worship, I came home feeling encouraged and spiritually uplifted.
I'm so grateful that I found Richmond Holidays. I met so many lovely people last year and made some lovely Christian friends that I have remained in touch with. I've enjoyed yet another holiday with three of those friends
that I made last year in Croatia. I feel so blessed to have met so many lovely people who, like me, love the Lord.
I pray that you will be able to continue providing these holidays in the years to come and I look forward to having many more Richmond holidays in the future. God bless you all and thanks again for all you are doing and for
giving people like myself the opportunity to have lovely holidays that feel safe and are a haven where we can become physically, emotionally and spiritually rested and uplifted.
Many blessings
With love in Christ,
Irene x

Irene McCabe, Austria 2011
“Particularly I enjoyed chatting with guests over fabulous meals – morning and evening; meeting interesting people from all over the UK; all the activities and swimming pools, table tennis, shooting, pool and aerobics… Bob and Stella are more than amazing – great worship and prayer sessions and felt blessed by specific prayer time I spent with them.”
Jen Hyland, Tenerife February 2012
“This was our first Richmond Holiday and we loved it. Our daughters, 11 & 16, had a fantastic time with the young staff and both grew in their faith and are determined to spend their gap years with Richmond!
The holiday was the perfect mixture of skiing, worship, friendship and quality family time. We shall certainly book again. May God continue to bless and encourage you with your company. Your staff in England made the preparations enjoyable, booking the holiday, ordering ski kits and even warning us against arriving to find no snow in resort!”
Tricia Owen, Richmond Ski, April 2011
“I am now back from Malta and am pleased to let you know that the holiday was fabulous. The hotel was great, with good quality food and so much variety. Rooms were very comfortable, facilities good, spa great. Good location with easy access to the coast and the tourist sites. Trish and Alex were great hosts and ministry leaders taking good care of us all. There was good fellowship with the Richmond group. And of course the weather was fab. We found a super festival for Palm Sunday in a neighbouring village, with a great costumed parade of the Holy Week events. There are also festivals for Easter Weekend, so a great time to be in Malta.”
Sue Chilton, Malta, Easter 2012
“What a wonderful holiday my friend and I had, thank you for providing such a great service.
From when I first spoke to Clare I was really impressed by how friendly and helpful she was. So was Kathryn in connection with flights.
Everything about the holiday was superb. Haus is a lovely village and the choice of activities on offer was great. More importantly however, I cannot speak highly enough of your staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were real models of Christian love. I'm thinking in particular of Hannah and AJ, but really it applies to all of them. Jan Marie's food was wonderful, and I wasn't expecting the food to be such a highlight!
I feel sure that the Lord guided me to Richmond. The time away was a real blessing and provided the space I needed to think and pray. I am so grateful and do pray that God will continue to bless your ministry.
Yours in Christ
”
Grace Townshend, Austria, Summer 2011
“This was our first family skiing holiday and from the outset it was great. The courteous and helpful office staff (Clare and Susanne) dealt with all my many questions and the fact that they knew the location in detail was a real confidence booster; they were genuinely enthusiastic but also gave tips on booking and holding places whilst flights etc were secured.”
Stephen Chidlow & Family , Alpe d’Huez, April 2012
“Having just returned from my third Richmond Holiday, on one of which I met you and Clare and having discussed your ambitions for Richmond, I must congratulate you on your achievements.
The holiday this year was even better... I honestly could not think of any improvements.
Young Rob was amazing - I shall watch his future trajectory with interest! He really epitomized the joy of the Lord despite the fact that he must have been very tired at times. Katie ably backed him up of course, and I much enjoyed the trip to Kokari which she organised.
Your ethos seemed to percolate through the hotel staff, all of whom were more smiling and friendly than I remembered. They greeted me like a long lost friend after 3 years!!
I am very grateful to you for the opportunity to have a good holiday in a Christian context, including excellent ministry.
”
Christine Hawkins, Samos, September 2011
“Particularly enjoyed fellowship with like-minded Christians; time to relax, pray and enjoy my Bible… Also the sun!”
Fiona Wood, Tenerife, February 2012
“I loved the intimate feeling of the Lodge. The staff made me feel so welcome and included. Not enjoying large crowds, this place, the people was perfect for me.”
Karen Millar, Ste Foy Jan 2012
“We've just returned from a wonderful week and want to say a huge thank you to you, all the Richmond staff and the staff at the Zefiros Beach Hotel.
Firstly, Rob Baggaley's evening sessions of ministry were really inspiring. Every evening, he managed to provide a balance of both challenging us, whilst bringing a message of encouragement. As we are sure you are aware, he is a very gifted worship leader, bible teacher and pastor. All this, while very capably handling the role of Resort Manager.
Finally, thank you for this lovely holiday. It has refreshed and encouraged us enormously, at a time for us of new beginnings and some degree of uncertainty.
With every blessing to you both and your ministry of Richmond Holidays
”
Nigel & Jan James, Samos 2011
“I wanted to thank you yet again for another triumph of a holiday at Reberty! It was like going home to return for yet another year and we were so fortunate with the snow which was bliss. I took my friend this time and she absolutely LOVED it and is already discussing that we organise a big group next year!
I came away not wanting to leave in fact as there was such a homely feel and that is tribute to your hard work ( of the whole team) and vision of the company.”
Amelia Sweetland, Reberty, March 2012
“The whole group had an amazing holiday. We had four beginners in our group and most are genuinely hooked and will be returning.
Some of our group were nervous about coming on a Christian holiday but were pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoyed the trip.
The team were amazing and nothing was too much trouble, including the chef making a birthday cake. ben's ministry was a great addition to an incredible holiday.
In church yesterday some of the group were already taking about "next time"… I think this is all down to the resort, great food, and Hermione and her team.
Thanks must also go to the team in the UK who were great in all communication before the trip.
Thanks for a great holiday”
Sarah Bill, Alpe d'Huez. New
“
Just to say thank you to you all at Richmond for organising our recent holiday in Samos. We have just had the best, most relaxing holiday we have ever had and the only disappointing part was having to leave! All the Richmond Team were absolutley fantastic and the hotel was lovely. We will definitely arrange our holidays with you again!
Thanks once again
”
Gill, Aimee and Sophie Ellis, Samos, August 2011
“Please can you forward my grateful thanks to the Samos team?
I have just returned from a truly wonderful week stay there.
Although the hotel, sea and surrounding countryside are lovely the warmth, enthusiasm and helpfulness of all the Richmond staff made the holiday one of the best that I've ever had.
”
Amy Smith, Samos, 2011
“Thank you once again to Richmond for a fabulous skiing holiday! The snow was amazing and the chalet was all we hoped it would be but I think it was the group and the wonderful Richmond team that changed it from just another great skiing holiday into something very special!
With love from all the Hughes-Penney family xx
”
Hughes-Penney Family, Ste Foy, January 2012
“Danny, we wanted to thank you so much for your leadership as the Richmond Resort Manager and help during our week with you. It was a wonderful time made more special by your quiet running of things in the background. The ministry from Derek was excellent and made it well worth coming for. The hotel is in a great location and being able to eat out on the balcony was special! Thank you again for all you did. Trust you wil have a very good season in Croatia.
”
Mary & Elisabeth Lambert, Croatia, May 2011
“I would recommend the holiday and resort to anyone.
Can I also thank you for sorting out the transfers so well.
I know the feeling on the holiday was that it was a great holiday and I look forward to hearing what dates and locations you have for next year and will be looking at booking with my friends.
”
Karl Surtees, Alpe d’Huez, March 2012
“Just got back from Chalet Ennstal in Austria and I must say that I think you are on to a winner there. The staff are excellent - highly competent, never a bad moment, and as helpful as could be.
The chalet is delightful. Better overall than some much more recent ones I have been in, and it has that traditional Austrian feel about it. Very comfortable, nice views and excellent garden.
Glad to hear you are back for Summer 2012. I shall stay two weeks - one was not enough! Keep up the good work ...
”
Chris Kennington, Austria, July 2011
“I just wanted to say thank you for a great skiing holiday in Alpe d'Huez. I went on my own but felt really welcomed and well looked after. The food was good and the ministry was encouraging. The chalet staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. They just wanted us to have a great time. The ski guiding was wonderful and Phil went beyond the call of duty in the way he looked after us on the mountain, I really enjoyed the ice picnic and we also had such fun in the outdoor hot tub. Thanks again, I can't wait for next year.”
Catherine Brooke, Alpe d’Huez, January 2012
“We have just returned from one of the best holidays we have ever had in Samos and wanted to let you know. The Richmond staff out there were absolutely brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for them. As we are very inexperienced sailors we found the waterfront staff so encouraging and helpful. There was never a shortage of activities in both the day time and evening from walks to aquafit in the sea, boules and table tennis competitions, not to mention the excursions and minibus outings.
There was always someone on hand for any queries or problems and the staff there were a credit to Richmond. They took care of small and larger issues and being greeted at the airport with a bottle of water was a nice touch. We will certainly be taking a Richmond holiday.
(As we passed on our Richmond brochure to an English couple at the hotel who were not with Richmond but seemed to appreciate the ethos of our holiday we wondered if you might be able to send us another 2011 brochure to replace ours.)”
Janet Whelan, Samos, June 2011
“Great skiing, great company and great staff – making it a great holiday.”
Dave Brown, Alpe d'Huez, January 2012
“This was my first Richmond holiday (but I am sure it won't be my last), you and the staff in the office were very helpful and Kathryn at Travel Counsellors made the booking of flights and parking at the airport easy. The transfers in Turkey went very easily.
The Richmond Resort Staff were fantastic. They were friendly and enthusiastic, they helped to make the holiday special; do please pass on my thanks to them all. I did particularly enjoy Zoe's Pilates classes and do intend to find a class locally and keep it up. The Regattas, canoe trips and other activities were well organised and great fun. The hotel staff were friendly and very patient with my, not very good, attempts at trying Turkish.
I am so glad that I booked on Eileen's photography course, it was a fantastic thing to do and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Eileen was great and so enthusiastic; she has made taking photographs into a whole new experience. My camera is usually out and ready to use now, rather than being kept in a draw and forgotten. Taking photos will never be quite the same again. I would highly recommend it.
I had a wonderful holiday which was just what I needed; I made some good friends who I will stay in touch with and I had a lovely time. God is good and I am so grateful to him for creating such a beautiful place and his timing for a wonderful holiday.
Many thanks to you and all the Richmond Team
”
Elizabeth Moss, Aspat, Bodrum, 2011
“Ever since returning from Austria I have been meaning to write to Richmond to say what a wonderful holiday my friend and I had, and to thank you for providing such a great service. JanMarie's food was wonderful, and I wasn't expecting the food to be such a highlight! I feel sure that the Lord guided me to Richmond. By the time I went on the holiday I was very stressed about work and the time away was a real blessing and provided the space I needed to think and pray. I am so grateful and do pray that God will continue to bless your ministry.

Grace Towshend Austria August 2011
“We have been pleasantly surprised by our experience of our first Christian holiday. Enjoying the company of people we didn't know before as though they were old friends. God has used these relationships and more private times of reflection to restore, inspire and refresh us.”
Geoff & Julie Cheeseman, Samos, September 2011
“The watersports were superb with good equipment, helpful staff and a great rescue team when the wind died or blew us away.
The sea was so lovely and warm and buoyant with delightful pretty fish and an octopus - so convenient for swims or boating and just a stroll from the hotel or bars.
Such a peaceful, amazing sea view with a beautiful sheltered bay and great gardens and trees, with plenty of sun shades and lots of space to escape to relax, sunbathe, read or chat with others.
The staff were enthusistic and efficient 24/7 with no cross words or hint of a grumble - always smiling, very professional.
We liked the air-conditioner unit - it was so easy to operate and adjust and quiet too for cooling us for sleeping on hot, sticky nights.
We really enjoyed the food - some interesting salads, fruits, cheeses and breakfast pastries and the lamb shish kebab was wonderful - we liked the scrumptious puds too! Beers were good and wines tasty.
The whole holiday went so smoothly - transport all on time and hassle-free. We arrived home refreshed and revived and 7 days felt like ages.”
Christine & Paul Dean, Turkey, September 2011
“Just to say a big Thanks for a fab holiday in Aspat! All the waterfront team were great and I managed to get some windsurfing in as well as meeting lots of great folk. All the staff were fabulous and in the words of Adam Playfair (great resort Manager) FANTASTIC ! I look forward to the next holiday with Richmond. Huge blessings to all staff that worked so hard to make it a great time.
”
Bill Roseblade, Turkey, September 2011
“The Ski in/Ski Out; close proximity of the chalet to slopes and resort; amenities; the proper bar which stimulates better fellowship and keeping entertainments in-house; the dining area and the continuous can-do attitude of the staff...Canapes before dinner each night were also a good touch.”
Nick Brown, Alpe d'Huez, January 2012
“As a new single traveller (widow) this was the best experience I could have had! I had a wonderful week in Croatia and this was my first trip with Richmond and of this type of holiday, and meeting new friends was so pleasant.”
Irene Thomson, Croatia, June 2010
“I love the atmosphere on Richmond ski holidays; very welcoming and the chalet feels like home from home. The staff are so helpful!”
Judith Agnew, Alpe d’Huez, January 2012
“"Am currently on my 1st Richmond Holiday in the new Chalet in Austria. Totally wonderful, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They all have a real servant heart! The food is superb & chalet standerds high. A refreshing retreat!
This won"t be my last Richmond Holiday!"
”
Liz Sutcliffe, Austria, July 2011
“It was great to have a group of 12 of us developing a special bond and appreciating one another's uniqueness. Having meetings, hearing testimonies, exploring Jerusalem and Tiberias in evenings and having fun together.
Everything was so well organised.
The ministry of David was excellent; a most kind, able, compassionate man who led our meeting times so well, passing on his Biblical knowledge with sincerity and understanding. He was a most encouraging person.
The itinerary/excursions were excellent as we covered a lot of the country seeing amazing and wonderful places.
I think I found visiting Church of St. Anne very moving as when full of people singing their praises to God (including our tour) the whole building was filled with such a beautiful sound. Quite awesome!
I found the time at the baptismal site at the Garden Tomb very special.
”
Christine Campbell, Israel, September 2011
“I have just returned from a week in Trogir. I cannot find words to describe how fantastic it was. Right from being met at Split Airport to being taken back, everything was absolutely brilliant!
The resort is amazing, the hotel is good and Emma and Danny were marvellous!
This was the first time I have been on holiday on my own, and a friend told me that I would see Jesus in everyone I met and this was so the case! I cannot thank you enough!”
David Maxted, Croatia, September 2011
“It's a beautiful place with so much to do on offer. The visit to the snow covered Dachstein Glacier was probably one of the highlights for everyone, with spectacular mountain top scenery on all sides and people skiing on the glacier. The free cable cars, ski lifts and swimming pools (with the summer card) was a real bonus, meaning you could go to the top of a mountain, from the cable car station just 5 mins walk from the chalet for a coffee or lunch. The open air pool also within 5 minutes walk of the chalet was surrounded by lawns and mountain scenery, with pure mountain water to swim in wonderful on a hot day and actually better than having a hotel swimming pool! Painting is my thing - and some gentle walking - but others enjoyed using the mountain bikes that were to hand in the chalet and more challenging walks. Then there was Saltzberg and Schladming to explore, lakes to visit, and and a first for me - rafting on the river Enn, which was exhilarating and fun. (I declined kayaking or a treetop assault course!)”
Gillian Newton, Austrian Alps, July 2011
“I've just returned from a fantastic two weeks in Samos. I have to say that Richmond have definitely taken the Christian holiday to the next level. The standard of service and pastoral care was excellent. I and my family returned to the UK physically and spiritually refreshed.”
Peter Wood, Samos, 2011
“A wonderful holiday. I was in tears when I left as the whole time had been a very restorative, healing, joyful time.
The team were exceptional, and really they could do no more for us than they did. Always patient, always kind, always loving, always serving, always encouraging....The ministry times with Rob were so full of joy & wisdom, he has an amazing gifting of the word, like a deep reservoir inside of him which bubbles over and out with love, joy, compassion and power ... his revelation really hit my heart and gave me fresh hope and confidence and joy and challenge...
We were blessed by deep soft snow, blue skies, sun, and even when it snowed we had good visibility, so truly wonderful...the food was delicious and plentiful, and we loved the canapes and bubbles in front of the fire pre dinner...
Every moment was a delight. I arrived in France tired and more bruised than I realised, and left filled with joy, hope and excitement..
With much love to you all at Richmond, you are a truly fabulous ministry, and a blessing to many
”
Suzanne Avery, Ste Foy, January 2012
“... just wanted to drop you an encouraging email, just back from a week out in Samos, and I thought the team out there were really really great!”
Tom Murray, Samos, Aug 2011
“I had a great holiday, and especially appreciated Bob and Stella Matthew's ministry. I had a really encouraging time with them. They made me feel very welcome, and included in the group; and were extremely helpful with any practical queries that I had. I am very much looking forward to my next holiday!
”
Eleanor Lewis, Tenerife, January 2011
“Every single day of the holiday was fantastic for so many reasons but all down to the hard work of the staff. You guys are so servant hearted; you seemed to always be working but always with a smile and enthusiasm for what you were doing. The food was outstanding, Carl, Minty and Sarah and anyone else involved in the cooking you could give any cookery programme a run for their money, personal favourite had to be the banoffee pie!”

Phil & Sandra Marsden
Phil is the Minister at Brixham Baptist Church in Devon. Prior to this, he was involved in a variety of ministries including extensive youth and children’s work.
He began his ministry at 20 on ACE Teams - a youth initiative run by the Assemblies of God Church, where he met his wife Sandra. From here he became Director of a Youth for Christ Centre in Manchester. His next role was as Children & Youth Director for the Baptist Missionary Society where he led the Action Teams and travelled extensively including Asia and Europe.
In 1996 Phil decided he wanted to be more church based and moved to Queens Park Baptist Church in Glasgow as their Youth Worker. He was there for 5 years before moving to Tonbridge Baptist Church as Youth and Children’s Minister where he completed his theology degree at Spurgeon’s and became an accredited Minister.
Phil and Sandra then moved to Brixham in 2006 and over the past four years have seen the church grow numerically and spiritually. They have initiated a youth club – now with almost 200 members.
Sandra who has two part time jobs, leads a ladies home-group and overseas the Sunday school as well as assisting Phil in his ministry. They have two daughters, Amy and Bethany.
The family enjoy days out in beautiful Devon and Cornwall, spending time on the beach, playing pitch & putt, sailing, body-boarding and surfing.
Bob & Stella Matthews
Born and brought up in rural West Cumberland (in the shadow of Ennerdale), I grew up with walking mountains as an instinct. I was fortunate to be able to work initially at a College in Whitehaven before making a career switch to work for the Lake District National Park. As Operations Manager based beside Windermere, I had an unrivalled view from my office window across the head of the Lake to the Central Fells. I was embroiled in the field of interpretive education. I even became an aficionado of Beatrix Potter, whose cousin built the house that was my base. I was granted voluntary redundancy/early retirement in 1997 after 23 years.
We Pastored the Assemblies of God Church in Kendal for eight years until moving, in 1986, to our present home in Backbarrow, near Newby Bridge, at the southern end of Windermere. 1997 on, Stella and I felt called to mission in West Africa - mostly Ghana but spent time in The Gambia; Bible College lecturing; preaching and teaching in many churches; humanitarian projects especially taking containers of medical equipment to Ghana and The Gambia; Built a school - Zoë European Academy - in rural outskirts of Accra; ten years on and 350 children on the roll, we still support the project. Holiday ministry includes more than 40 overseas trips with groups to Israel; Greece and several Islands; Turkey; Cyprus; Malta; Madeira; Tuscany; The Alps(French, German, Austrian and Italian), plus Provence - and, of course - The English Lake District.
Two sons live in nearby Ulverston (birthplace of Stan Laurel, as in Laurel and Hardy!); one is a banker whilst the younger pastors Emmanuel Christian Centre, our home church. We have six grandchildren.
I am archivist for the local History Society and we enjoy travelling the UK in our motorhome, which we find particularly useful for fulfilling distant/travelling speaking engagements. As well as preaching, Bob has an armoury of illustrated talks on Lake District, literary and conservation topics and acts as Guide for touring/walking groups. Lecturing fees etc go towards supporting our missions.
Wesley's great revelation hymns have long been particularly special, as have Fanny Crosby's heartfelt renditions. A favourite song, though, of recent years is "Faithful One, so unchanging...". The Lord has been so open-handed towards me and my family - great grandparents and on down succeeding generations. However, Stuart Townend's "In Christ Alone" and How deep The Father's Love..." stir me to the core.
When we were called to West Africa, we received a prophetic word from NIV Isaiah 58 vv 6-12. Especially, v.11 - "The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame." He has fulfilled that promise incredibly and absolutely... We thank God for all of His Provision to us.

Michael came into full-time Christian ministry in 1985 and Jenny continued at Kingston University, becoming Head of Religious Education in the School of Education until she retired in 2006. Eric and Carolyn are members of Appledore Baptist Church in North Devon. Eric is a lay preacher, housegroup leader and worship leader. Carolyn is a deacon, keyboard player and also leads worship. Eric has lived in North Devon all his life while Carolyn was born in Bromley, Kent.
During a holiday in Appledore in 1970 she met Eric and in 1971 they were married and she moved to North Devon. For many years they were ministry leaders for MasterSun and their two sons (on their 'gap' years) worked in Corfu and Halkidiki for MasterSun before taking up careers in nursing, following in their father's footsteps. They have now both married physiotherapists and have nearly 4 children!
Eric and Carolyn are both retired, Eric having been a Charge Nurse in the local hospital and Carolyn having worked for Social Services in Bideford.
They enjoy gardening, walking, caravanning and looking after the grandchildren who live in South Devon and Somerset. I guess the favourite Bible verse must be Romans 8 v 28 - this being the verse inscribed on their wedding rings!
Nathan Morgan Locke
Nate and his wife Cat live in central London with their son James. Nate works for both the All Souls Clubhouse and Christianity Explored. His 'work' is mainly hanging around with teenagers and telling them about Jesus, though he is occasionally allowed to talk to adults! As Youth Evangelist with Christianity Explored, he is involved with developing resources and itinerant speaking engagements. He wrote and presented Soul, a seven part DVD series based on Mark's gospel.
Nate enjoys watching and playing sport, though he has not been skiing since he was 12!
Tom Murray
Tom Murray grew up just outside Oxford and began his links with Richmond on their gap year scheme. He has subsequently worked in a number of resorts both summer and winter, in Turkey, Greece and France. Tom has worked as sailing and windsurf instructor up to Sailing Centre Manager in the summer and as Children’s Worker, Ski Guide and Ski Technician in the winter.
Tom graduated from Exeter University with a degree in Sport Science, before working as the Student Union President for sport for a year. Tom then became a student pastor at an independent church in Exeter called Belmont Chapel, while there he heading up student ministry and the churches intern program. Following his time with Belmont chapel, he moved to the University and Colleges Christian Fellowship or UCCF where he is responsible for student evangelism in Exeter.
Tom is passionate about sharing the good news of Christ and loves working as an evangelist. In his spare time he is sports mad, playing all sports, but particularly loves football, skiing, sailing, windsurfing, cricket and rugby! He occasionally dabbles in cooking and dancing.
Andy & Fiona Perry
Andy Perry grew up in a Christian home and having made a commitment as a child his own personal faith began to grow in his teens. He spent time in Uganda during his gap year, and after university he taught at Winchester for three years before training for ordination at Trinity College, Bristol. Andy holds a B.A. and M.A. in theology and served as a curate in Bath. In 1995 he became Vicar of St Mary’s Longfleet, Poole and has been humbled and excited to see the church grow from 85 to about 700-800.
Andy is married to Fiona, a nurse practitioner and they have three grown up children Ben (24), Will (22) and Olivia (19). Andy and Fi are on the Leadership Team for the New Wine (CSW) conference week. Andy enjoys the outdoors, watching rugby, skiing, golf and reading especially biographies and on leadership.
Tom Price
Tom is an Academic Tutor at the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics, Associate speaker of the RZIM Zacharias Trust, and an independent itinerant evangelist/apologist. He is involved in pastoral care as well as teaching at the OCCA. Tom has a degree in Philosophy which led to his Christian conversion and also holds an MA in Christian Apologetics. Before studying for his Masters, Tom worked for the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) as the founding editor of their apologetics website bethinking.org.
He is married to Caroline and they live in Oxford where they attend a lively city centre church. Caroline studied astrophysics, and loves music, 'chick flicks' and Thai food. She also works as a Business Analyst at British Telecom.
Currently, as well as his work with the OCCA, Tom is a Damaris team member - an educational charity that seeks to help people across the world explore spiritual and moral issues underlying their contemporary culture. Both Caroline and Tom enjoy spending time with those who are asking difficult questions about God, philosophy, life, love, and work. Some of their favourite bible passages are those passages which give us glimpses of Jesus' character as he is moved with compassion to help people (John 9; Matt 9; Mark 11:46-52), or those incredible encounters when he asks a question - letting everyone see the key issue much more clearly (Mark 11:18; Luke 10:25-37; Genesis 3:9). Far from being irrelevant, out of date or boring, Jesus' character, his questions and then his astonishing answers are the most compelling, life changing things they have ever heard. As Ravi Zacharias says, 'Jesus did not come to make bad people good, but dead people alive.'

Gordon & Marion Stroud
Gordon is a retired dentist, and throughout the last 40 plus years he has been involved in Christian leadership. He led the church Youth Group for over eight years, which caused Marion, to compensate for his absence and the lack of a TV, by starting to write children’s novels. A Jack of all trades, in the last 30 years he has also been a Gideon, a local Preacher, a Worship Leader, and, together with Marion, has led several small groups. The church in which they’ve worshipped for more than 30 years was planted by 12 married couples and has always had a good balance of men and women, but they both feel strongly about the lack of men in many other churches, and Gordon is currently part of the team that organises the men’s breakfasts at their church.
Marion trained originally as a physiotherapist but ‘retired’ when baby number one was born in order to fulfil two ambitions at once – to become a mother and a writer! She has since written 23 books, mostly non-fiction, many articles and bible reading notes for Crusade for World Revival’s Inspiring Women. A founder member of the Assn. of Christian Writers she is also a Cross cultural trainer for Media Associates, an organisation that focuses on training writers, publishers and editors so that they can produce culturally relevant Christian literature in the spiritually hard places of the world. This teaching role has taken her to Russia, Bulgaria, Trinidad, Africa and the Philippines among other places. Marion and Gordon have five children and 15 grandchildren, ranging in age from 17 down to a few months.
Marion is a recently retired magistrate and Gordon chairs the Trustees of Christian Family Care – a Bedfordshire charity providing family centres and, until recently, a Woman’s Refuge. For relaxation Gordon watches cricket and cheers Wolves on to victory – not always successfully – and reads history books. Marion enjoys other people’s books and they both love to travel and keep up with their family – which sometimes feels like a full time task!
Trevor & Jan Summerlin
Trevor lives in the Rhondda Valley with his wife Jan. They have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Trevor is a professional coach, trainer and psychotherapist. He works from a Christian prospective with churches, companies and individuals, longing for men and women, young and old to be salt and light in today's world. He teaches counselling courses in colleges across South Wales and conducts seminars and workshops on a range of topics from strategic planning to dealing with stress. His real passion is leadership training built on the foundation of Biblical principles. Previous roles have included youth worker, ski coach and Baptist minister. Trevor's personal mission statement is "To serve God as a catalyst for change". For the past couple of years Trevor and Jan have been worshipping at a local chuch in the village of Clydach Vale (in the Rhondda valley). The Church is called "Passion 4" (P4 for short), it is a very young lively fellowship and we are part of the Leadership Team there. Trevor loves music but was once arrested for singing (even though perfectly sober!).
His favourite book of the Bible is Jonah where we see the amazingly unchangeable nature of God's love and how He still chooses to use us in spite of our weaknesses and selfishness. A favourite hymn of Trevor's is "Oh Happy Day". He has chosen to have this at most of the significant services in his life and plans to have it at his funeral!

Nic & Denise Willis
From a conservative evangelical background and with forty years bible teaching and preaching experience throughout the UK and overseas, Nic Willis has a deep knowledge of the Word of God and a lively and entertaining way of presenting it.
As founder of Bible Alive, he has a vision to see relevant and exciting Bible teaching back at the heart of our church life. His irrepressible enthusiasm for God's Word is both infectious and challenging.
Besides running a business (fortunately it runs itself now) and developing the Bible Alive ministry, he is also on the leadership team of Tarporley Baptist Church.
And, just in case they get bored, they go out regularly to Africa with the Mission Direct Team, and also lead the occasional Holy Land tour together.
Nic has been married to Denise for more years than they care to remember and they are still a pair of old romantics. Nic, (of Everly Brothers tribute band fame!), recently wrote and recorded an album of songs for Denise, celebrating their life together. Over the top, or what!
With so much going on they have little time for hobbies but they do enjoy getting away in the caravan to be in the countryside amongst God's glorious handiwork.
Favourite part of the Bible? Too difficult to answer because they love it all, but a verse that keeps them focused is Psalm 31:15 "My times are in Your hands". It's good to remember that in the busy-ness of our lives Gods plans for us are always the best.
