Location & Surroundings
With its beautiful coastline, friendly villages, incredible history and unlimited relaxation, all of this and more is to be found on Crete.
Bali is the jewel of Crete. Situated on the north coast, the village perches on the hills leading down to a series of small coves and bays, all with their own beach. A walk around the village will lead you into the centre of a traditional fishing port, which is surrounded, by fish restaurants overlooking the turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean.
The main road to Heraklion in the east and Rethymnon in the west loops behind the village about 500m inland, but gives easy access by bus or car in each direction. The hotel will operate a courtesy shuttle service to the bus stop on request so you can get out and about under your own steam.
Crete is a fantastically interesting island with so much to see and do. A jeep safari will take you up into the mountains in the centre of Crete rising well above 2000m. Mount Ida will still be covered in snow during the early season. An exploration of the Minoan civilisation could take you to see the Palace of Knossos in Heraklion or Phaistos in the South, the remains of a civilisation that was thriving 4000 years ago.
If you enjoy dramatic landscapes then the sheer cliffs of the Samaria Gorge provide a spectacular backdrop to a 4-5 hour walk. As the most southerly of the main Greek islands, Crete enjoys a long season. It should be warm enough to sunbathe even in April, even if the water is a slightly chilly. Early and late season there is a small risk of catching a storm.
Come in April and enjoy one of our special Easter programmes, a holiday at Bali can be whatever you want it to be, come ready for a great time in the sun. Please note that watersports are not available at this hotel, therefore we are able to offer you great value for money in our lower holiday prices.

The Bali Star Hotel
Our hotel is right in the heart of the village, run by its very friendly owners who are always ready with a smile. The Bali Star is beautifully positioned in one of the small coves and has direct access to the lovely sandy beach. The water is calm and shallow with safe bathing and there are sun beds for hire on the beach. The village is quite hilly and some of the roads are quite steep.
The sandy beach has good quality sand and shallow waters which are sheltered from the wind, excellent for children! For those who like getting out on the water it is possible to go day sailing from the harbour or even go on a diving expedition around the rugged coast line.
The hotel has a wonderful pool situated centrally, which provides a great focal point for fun and activities. The hotel has steps to different levels and is less suitable for guests with limited mobility. The large grounds of the hotel have plenty of space for families and those who want to find a secluded corner. The garden provides welcome shady patches under the branches of the olive trees and the open lawn is ideal for a spot of tennis or a kick around.
Rooms
All rooms are air-conditioned and some have sea views although the angle of some rooms means it’s a sideways view. The rooms vary in size mostly for two with space for a third bed for children, while four larger rooms can sleep up to fi ve people. All rooms have balconies and en-suite facilities.
Meals
Accommodation in the Bali Star Hotel is half board which includes a big breakfast buffet with eggs and bacon available for those who like a full English breakfast. Dinner is also buffet style with a range of salads to accompany the cooked meals. Many guests take lunch at the hotel’s own beachside Balcony Restaurant where there is a range of quality snacks.
